Warhammer Quest Part 4: Knight Questor

Thought I might get away without painting the freehand details on his cloak but its obvious now I didn't as it looks quite bare. I really want to move onto something else at this stage so I'm leaving him like this for the moment.

Colours Used:  Fenris Grey, The Fang, Nuln Oil, Lothern Blue, White Scar, Mephiston Red Red, Agrax Earthshade,  Evil Sunz Scarlet, Ushabti Bone, Gehenna's Gold, Auric Armour Gold, Ogryn Flesh Wash, Runefang Steel, Brown Ink,  Mechanious standard grey, Dawnstone, Celestra Grey, Zandri Dust , Leadbelcher and Iron Breaker.

Warhammer Quest: Tzeentch Familiar Conversion

The hand and flame come from the Burning Chariot of Tzeentch kit, the moon head is part of a Goblin objective marker from a WHFB box set.

Warhammer Quest: Knight Questor WIP pt1

I was hoping to get some Retributor Armour to paint the Knight Questor but the local had none in stock so I've tried out a mix of Gehenna's Gold and Auric Armour Gold instead. I'm not use to painting miniatures unassembled like this but did so because of a few areas that would be otherwise difficult to reach or inaccessible, namely the inside of the cloak, scrolls and the back of the shield.

For the base coat I mixed some Gehenna's Gold and Auric Armour Gold. about 30:70 ratio, 20:80 even...a lot of Auric Armour!.
Apply Ogryn Flesh Wash.
Apply the original mix of Gehenna's Gold and Auric Armour Gold.
Working towards highlights progressively add more Auric Armour Gold to the mix.
Start adding Runefang Steel to the mix.

Add more RuneFang Steel to the mix and work towards a mix that's more RuneFang than gold.
Apply a little watered down Brown Ink on recess areas. Ogryn Flesh Wash might also do.
A single coat of Fenris Grey was painted on the blue parts just to see what they'd look like and that's about as far as I got today. I wont be painting the rest of the blue just yet as I want to finish the difficult to reach parts (cloak, scrolls, shield) before putting him together and then working on the blue.

Warhammer Quest pt3: Brimstone Horrors

This is the third paint scheme I applied to the Brimstone Horrors. I messed up the first attempt when highlighting the fire with darker colours and then managed to make them look even worse with the second attempt. I got demoralized but was determined to finish them by the week end to have all the Horrors from the set complete.
The Knight Questor is up next for painting but I'm waiting on some paints before I can get started. Hopefully I'll have them before mid week, if not I'll have to crack on without. 'till then.

Colours Used: Troll Slayer Orange, Baal Red, Mephiston Red, Dorn Yellow, Scar White, Lothern Blue, Warboss Green, Warpstone Glow, Steel Legion Drab, Tallarn Sand and Ushabti Bone.

Warhammer Quest Silver Tower: Exotic Enemies pt1

Blessings of Chaos arrived last week in the form of a Burning Chariot of Tzeentch and the Lord of Plagues. I did'nt assemble the Burning Chariot (as nice as it is) but instead made some exotic enemies for Silver Tower in the form of a Herald of Tzeentch, Exalted Flamer and two Screamers. Lots of cool stuff in this kit...

Some small modifications were made to the Screamers and Exalted Flamer who along with the Herald are ready to be undercoated for painting. I'm also tinkering with a Herald conversion and preparing the Knight Questor for painting after I paint the Brimestone Horrors, which should be in the next post. Until then.

Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower pt2 Blue Horrors

The only minor problem with these is a missing thumb from one of the Mike Wazowski horrors that I forgot to put back on after it broke off. Brimstone Horrors are up next which shouldn't take too long but I'm not quite sure what to paint after that outside of it being a single miniature. Some tower reinforcements from Tzeentch and Papa Nurgle are on they way and will hopefully arrive this coming week, expect more on that in the next post. Until then I leave you with the Blue Horrors...

Colours used: Caledor Sky, Drakenhof Nightshade, Teclis Blue, Lothern Blue, Daemonette Hide, Averland Sunset, Tallarn Sand, Dorn yellow, White Scar, Rhinox Hide, Steel Legion Drab, Ushabti Bone, Thraka Green Wash, Goblin Green, Leadbelcher, Runefang Steel, Druchii Violet, Brown Ink, Troll Slayer Orange, Mephiston Red, Dorn Yellow.

Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower pt1 Pink Horrors

All Tzeentch bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful,
The Lord Of Change them all.

It's going to be all things Tzeentch for a while around here with Warhammer Quest Silver Tower. As you can see I have all the minions of the tower assembled and based. Painting wise I've gotten the three different types of Horrors primed and I've already finished painting the Pink ones. The blue horrors will be next and then the Brimstones. For now though I leave you with the project's current painting benchmark, the pink horrors...

Paints: Screamer Pink, Druchii Violet, Emperor's Children, Fenrisian Grey, Drakenof Nightshade, Lothern Blue, Rhinox Hide, Steel Legion Drab, Tallarn Sand, Ushabti Bone, Caliban Green, Biel-Tan Green, Warboss Green, Moot Green, Leadbelcher and Runefang Steel.

LOTR - Birch Huron

Almost complete, just some base details to add and it should be finished after that. The body of the Huron was formed from Sculpey iii, the rest is greenstuff and bits from Warhammer and LOTR. You can find a scale reference and some shots of the piece before it was painted here. Also a handy little tutorial that I used for painting rust can be found here.

LOTR - Orc Command

I've upgraded the Warg Rider to an Orc Shaman with the addition of a foot version converted using a pair of Mantic Ghoul legs.
