Hi Mount and Hollywood.

I was trying to emulate the tertiary colour schemes that seem to be paopular on military miniatures and as my paints are mostly fantasy based mixing grey in with them was the only way to get what I was looking for.

I used a wet palette and basically mixed all the the primary colours of the shceme in with Adeptus Battlegrey and used that as a base coat. The mixes I used leaned more towards grey so a ratio of about 60% grey to 40% whatever colour should do the trick.

Added more of the primary colour that I was using (catachan green, ice blue, whatever) to the mix while layering towards and through the mid tones. Bleached bone was then added to the mix for highlighting. lastly a tiny amount of white was added on the most finest highlights.

To finish I mixed a base coat of grey and primary colour again, added a tiny amount of black to the mix, watered it down and painted all the shaded areas. Added a little more black for the really dark areas and where different parts of miniature meet. The hand and sleeve for example, or the top of the boot and bottom of his trousers.

I'm not 100% on all the colours I used but know the following are correct.

Green: Catachan Green and Adeptus Battlegrey, Bleached bone.

Blue: Ice Blue and Adeptus Battlegrey, Bleached bone.

Blonde Hair: Bubonic Brown, Desert Yellow, Bleached Bone.

Bow/Arrow: Scorched Brown, Bestial Brown. Bleached Bone.

Dark armour, boots, cloth: Chaos Black and Scorched Brown mix, Bleached Bone.

Metal: Boltgun Metal. Chainmail. Mithril Silver.

...Hope that helps a bit :)
