The
only minor problem with these is a missing thumb from one of the Mike Wazowski
horrors that I forgot to put back on after it broke off. Brimstone
Horrors are up next which shouldn't take too long but I'm not quite sure
what to paint after that outside of it being a single miniature. Some
tower reinforcements from Tzeentch and Papa Nurgle are on they way and
will hopefully arrive this coming week, expect more on that in the next
post. Until then I leave you with the Blue Horrors...
Colours used: Caledor Sky, Drakenhof Nightshade, Teclis Blue,
Lothern Blue, Daemonette Hide, Averland Sunset, Tallarn Sand, Dorn
yellow, White Scar, Rhinox Hide, Steel Legion Drab, Ushabti Bone, Thraka
Green Wash, Goblin Green, Leadbelcher, Runefang Steel, Druchii Violet,
Brown Ink, Troll Slayer Orange, Mephiston Red, Dorn Yellow.
Very nice! Like the colour scheme.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous work, the fire technique is especially impressive :)
ReplyDeleteOutstanding work. Very subtle shift to the greenish hands. The blue/orange scheme really pops.
ReplyDeleteSound guys. I was a little apprehensive about painting a more varied or hero model next, that's alleviated it good bit, much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteReally good paintjob there. The crazy tzeentch-models are extremely high fantasy but oh so nice, IMO. The fire was well done - I am trying to finish a burning Balrog but painting fire just doesn't work for me :P
ReplyDeleteThanks Llama :) I think their savage looking, great conversion potential and crazy colour schemes too.
ReplyDeleteVery nice scheme! I like the subtle transition to a bluegreen on the hands. I may borrow (cough, steal, cough) quite a bit of this as I'm building a unit of Flamebearers for Kings of War from these blue horrors and the ones on the Burning chariot. Question on the hands (if you don't mind): I assume the Ushabti bone is for the claws and not blended in for the final highlight? I'm trying to imagine your layering steps and I keep thinking the final result will be much more green (with the goblin green). Was the Green used more as a glaze on them? Either way - nicely done :D
ReplyDeleteThank you Brian. spot on! the Ushabti is only on the claws and a glaze was used on the hands. They were painted like the rest of the blue on the figure to begin with and then the glaze was added in layers, painting from the elbow towards the finger tips, wrists to fingers, hand to fingers. To finish, the glazed area was highlighted with the same highlight colour as the blue :)
